Health Screening Projects

Apex Community Aid was contracted by Child Development Centres under Compassion International Ghana organized health screening for their children in the Volta Region of Ghana. The main purpose of the health screening was to identify and advise on the health conditions of the children and provide further support when needed. The screenings were held on three consecutive days. The first day was for the collection of specimen (stool, urine and blood) for laboratory tests and the subsequent two days were for the diagnosis of the various health conditions by a team of doctors and nurse.

The screening components were:

Laboratory Test:

  •  Full blood count
  •  Urine and Stool Examination
  •  Blood groupings
  •  Sickling and Electrophoreses (if positive for sickling)
  •  Malaria

Physical Assessment:

  •  Eye screening
  •  Physical Examination (including Nutritional Assessment and Vitals)
